Exciting upcoming events and giveaways with The Caker!

On April 9th, there's an event hosted by Brancott Estate called "A Taste of Marlborough," which is happening at Ponsonby Central. Along with some other extremely talented ladies including my good friend Eleanor from Petite Kitchen, Jess from My Underground Kitchen, and Delaney from Heartbreak Pie, I will be creating an enormous cake to match the flavour notes in Brancott Estate's very special Fume Blanc. I'll be using some beautiful ingredients from Marlborough including Putake honey and Uncle Joe's hazelnuts. The recipe I came up with is a refined sugar and dairy free hazelnut, lemon and honey cake, with orange blossom and honey syrup and roasted pears, served with honey laced Greek yogurt. It's pretty delicious if I do say so myself!

I'm super excited to have the opportunity to invite three of my followers and their friends to join me and my foodie gal pals to this event. Simply visit my instagram (@thecakernz), follow me if you don't already, like and share the post and tag the friend you'd take with you in the comments below. I'll choose my three lucky winners from there.

Another event I have coming up is a baking demo at Farro Fresh on April 24th, hosted by the fantastic people at Kenwood. I'll be sharing 3 of my favourite wholesome and simple recipes, using lovely ingredients from Billington's Sugar and Lewis Road Creamery. Ticket numbers are limited so make sure you get in quick! Here's the link to purchase tickets.

In related news, I will be doing a giveaway of 2 incredible Billington's Sugar prize packs to my Auckland based followers. They will include a sample of all Billington's unrefined sugar varieties, along with a cute little recipe book. This wee competition will be run on my instagram so keep an eye out! More info on this to come.
