Urbis Design Day cakes for Salasi x Kohler

I made some goodies for Salasi's collaboration with Kohler bathrooms for Urbis Design Day last Saturday. The theme was a tea party in a bath with beautiful girls indulging themselves with cakes, which I thought was pretty amazing.

Raspberry Cake with Cream and Jam

This cake may look old fashioned and English, but it's far from a boring Victorian sponge. It's actually a vanilla butter cake flavoured with lemon zest and dotted with juicy tart raspberries. The two layers are sandwiched together with a generous dollop of cream and raspberry compote, which is just cooked raspberries with a sprinkling of sugar. Serve a slice with a cup of English breakfast and you're all set for an afternoon tea party with the girls.

Ingredients:

butter
sugar
organic eggs
vanilla extract
organic plain yogurt
flour
lemon zest
raspberries

Humble Carrot Cake with Clementine Icing

Who doesn't love a good carrot cake? It's an old fashioned classic that everyone's mum or grandma has a special recipe for, it can be full of nuts and fruit or just plain and simple. It's a cake that seems healthy and wholesome; my sister even ate a slice for breakfast this morning. I found this recipe on one of my favourite food blogs, la tartine gourmande, and adapted it to contain all sorts of goodies like quinoa flour, organic hazelnuts, almonds, figs and walnuts. Topped with a zesty cream cheese icing, I think it satisfies!

Ingredients:

carrots
organic quinoa flour
whole wheat flour
cinnamon
nutmeg
organic eggs
sunflower oil
organic vanilla extract
walnuts
organic roasted hazelnuts
almonds
baking soda
Muscovado sugar

icing sugar
cream cheese
clementine zest
